My name is Crystal and I am the maker & artist, the heart & soul behind Bearpaw Silver. I believe there is no better designer than nature & she has always inspired me in my art & my life.
In 2018, I picked up a torch for the first time and discovered my love for metalsmithing. Each piece is completed entirely in my home studio with traditional jewelry techniques — hammer, files, saws & 1650°F fire.
01 — Hand-picked stones & solid metals
Hand-picked stones — sourced from old-stock suppliers and chosen one at a time for character, color, and origin. Solid metals — sterling silver, bronze, copper, and gold. Never plated.
02 — Process
Each stone is bezel-set by hand into a setting built around its specific weight, mood and shape — never the other way around. Hammered, sawed, soldered and shaped at the bench, one piece at a time.
03 — Hand-finishing
The final hour of every piece is the longest. Hammer-marks deepened, edges softened with fine files, the surface oxidized and then drawn back through a soft cloth until the silver carries the light unevenly — the way river stones do. Nothing leaves the bench polished flat.
